温室効果ガス排出削減 2023年度報告

Greenhouse gas emission reduction: Fiscal year 2023 report

In April 2024, Mizuno obtained certification from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi)*1 for its greenhouse gas reduction targets set to preserve the global environment.
We are now reporting on our progress towards the 2030 targets based on the actual results from fiscal year 2023.

*1 An international initiative jointly established in 2015 by four organizations: CDP, UN Global Compact, WRI (World Resources Institute), and WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature)

<SBTi-Certified Greenhouse Gas Reduction Targets>
Scope 1 and Scope 2: Reduction of emissions by 50.4% by 2030 compared to 2018.
Scope 3 (Category 1 and 12): Reduction of emissions by 58.1% per billion yen of value added by 2030 compared to 2018.

<Fiscal Year 2023 Performance Report>

Reduction Results for Each Scope

Scope 1 + 2 emissions were reduced by 25.8% compared to 2018, mainly due to the promotion of energy-saving measures (such as LED adoption and hybridization of company vehicles) and the promotion of renewable energy (such as solar power generation).
Scope 3 emissions were reduced by 31.8% compared to 2018, primarily due to factors such as the adoption of environmentally friendly materials.

Comparison of Actual Results and Target Values

Both Scope 1 + 2 and Scope 3 are progressing steadily towards their targets.

Scope and Category Details

*Due to a revision of the calculation method based on the GHG Protocol, the actual greenhouse gas emission values for fiscal years 2018 and 2022 have been retroactively adjusted.

Through dialogue and collaboration with stakeholders and our actions, Mizuno is actively addressing global environmental issues to protect the rich environment where people can enjoy sports and we aim to realize a sustainable society and well-being for the next generation.
