Message from the CFO
Bringing “A-mon” Quality to All Stakeholders through the Integration of “Principle” and “Profit”
Thanks to the support of our stakeholders, Mizuno achieved record-breaking revenue and profits across all business segments in the fiscal year ending March 2025. Guided by our corporate philosophy—“Contributing to society through the advancement of sporting goods and the promotion of sports”—we have continued to expand our operations across a diverse range of sports, including our founding sport of baseball, as well as soccer, volleyball, golf, running, swimming, and winter sports.
Even in areas with limited profitability, we prioritize social significance and the trust we build with our customers. This belief is at the heart of our business. At the same time, we recognize the importance of steadily improving profitability in these areas to meet the expectations of our shareholders.
Since our founding, we have valued “Justice above profit (principle over profit)”—a philosophy that continues to guide our actions. Building on this foundation, we aim to achieve sustainable growth by integrating principle, which represents our contribution to solving social issues through our unique technologies and services, and profit, which reflects our responsibility to deliver appropriate returns to shareholders. Through this integration, we strive to bring “A-mon” quality to all stakeholders.
Our expertise in the sports domain offers significant potential for balancing sustainability and profitability. For example, we are developing products that address climate risks such as extreme heat and heavy rainfall. In the workwear sector, we focus on comfort and safety in the workplace, contributing to improved working environments while achieving substantial financial growth. With a sales target of ¥20 billion by FY2027, we will continue to pursue stable expansion in this business.
We are also advancing initiatives in health and education. In education, we address the decline in children's physical activity by offering programs such as “Hexathlon” and “MISPO!”, and supporting the transition of extracurricular sports activities to community-based models. In health, we provide value rooted in daily life through the development of exercise programs and products for older adults. These efforts not only carry social significance but also help us build broader customer touchpoints beyond sports, contributing to long-term customer lifetime value (LTV).
At our innovation center, “MIZUNO ENGINE”, we are conducting research and development across five key themes: competitive sports, work, health, education, and the environment. These themes align with our materiality priorities. Going forward, we will further clarify the relationship between these research themes and our materiality, and integrate them with financial KPIs to enhance the consistency between our business strategy and sustainability efforts—ultimately shaping a more compelling value creation story.
In line with our founding spirit of Fair Play, we also conduct rigorous CSR audits to address human rights risks across our supply chain. From a financial perspective, these efforts to prevent risks from materializing are critically important, and we will continue to approach them with a heightened sense of responsibility.
Looking ahead, we will strengthen future-oriented investments, including enhancing e-commerce convenience in the Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) domain and expanding into growth markets such as India and South America. At the same time, we will strive for fair transactions with suppliers and distributors, improved treatment of employees, and returns to shareholders—ensuring appropriate capital allocation while building trust with all stakeholders.
As expectations for sustainability continue to rise, Mizuno remains committed to fulfilling its corporate responsibilities and growth strategies by integrating both “Principle” and “Profit”. Together with all stakeholders, we will continue to build a sustainable future.
