Reusing offcuts from wooden baseball bats

One of Mizuno's main products is wooden baseball bats.
Their quality is highly appreciated by professional baseball players, especially in Japan.

Maintaining the high quality of wooden baseball bats begins with preparation of the wood material. Hard and resilient top-grade wood such as maple and white ash is selected, and after a thorough drying process, the wood is carved by craftsmen into bats.

However, since wood is a natural product, it may have knots. During the manufacturing process, there will be cuts of wood that are unsuitable for bats, which become unused offcuts.

To make effective use of these offcuts, Mizuno leverages its connections with partner companies to process them into wooden key holders and other items, transforming them into new products. As the wood material of these offcuts is hard and well-dried, the resulting products are extremely durable. Also, the gentle feel of the wood is highly regarded.

Mizuno has been active in environmental conservation since 1991. Mizuno promotes recycling and reduces waste to help protect earth’s rich environment and preserves it for the next generation.
