Reducing environmental impact on outer packaging for baseball for professionals.

Mizuno aims to realize carbon neutrality with net-zero greenhouse gas emissions in all group business activities by 2050. In order to achieve this goal, Mizuno is taking initiatives such as utilizing renewable energy and innovations in manufacturing processes. At the same time, Mizuno is strengthening its environmentally-friendly initiatives such as working to reduce waste production, increasing recycling, and reviewing its product packaging materials.

As part of the initiatives, Mizuno is therefore pleased to announce to changee the outer packaging materials for official game balls supplied to the Nippon Professional Baseball Organization (NPB),Japan. The previous color-printed coated paper is being replaced by cardboard made from raw materials considerate of forest conservation and printed in a single color only. Thanks to this change, Mizuno will reduce greenhouse gas emissions from carton manufacturing by around 13.9 tons a year (approximately 66%)*1.

*1 Based on Mizuno’s research

Mizuno will change the materials used for professional baseballs in Japan first, and then expand the scope of the change.

Mizuno has been engaging in environmental conservation activities since 1991. By adopting materials with low environmental impact for both products and packaging, Mizuno aims to protect the rich global environment and preserve it for the next generation.
