Baseball equipment repair activities

Baseball gloves are equipment that players want to keep using for as long as possible. But gloves deteriorate after years of use, becoming dirty, frayed, and torn. However, gloves can be used for a long time if they are given the proper care, including repairs.

Mizuno has been operating the glove repair activities since 1977. We have also been conducting workshops in which craftspeople travel to provide repair support. We began conducting these activities in the United States as well from 1978.
In recent years, we have also been repairing baseball cleats in Japan.

We conducted about 2,200 cases of glove repairs and 2,500 cases of cleats repairs between April 2022 and March 2023,*1 which we believe contributed to a reduction of about 1.8 tons*2 of waste.

Mizuno is also promoting efforts to further extend the scope of repair activities by teaching the repair techniques that we have developed over the years to the staff members of sports stores that are our clients. Furthermore, through these repair activities, we hope to convey to children the importance of taking good care of the things for long life.

Mizuno aims to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, which means having net-zero greenhouse gas emissions from the Mizuno Group’s business activities. Together with our clients as our partners and all of Mizuno product users, we want to contribute to the reduction of environmental impact through waste reduction, and the realization of a sustainable society.
