SETTA C/Reborn: Sandals made with recycled carbon fiber

At Mizuno we have been using carbon fiber in sports equipment such as golf shafts, tennis rackets, and baseball bats, utilizing our properties to improve product performance.
Carbon fiber scraps from these manufacturing processes were considered difficult to recycle; however, rapid technological advancements have now made it possible to repurpose this material.

Since 2022, we have been offering the “SETTA C/Reborn” sandals, which feature a plate made from recycled carbon fiber called “HAYATE-®.”
To date, the production of these sandals has repurposed approximately 30 kg of carbon fiber scraps.
By using this recycled material, we are not only contributing to resource circulation but also improving the product’s performance. Compared to traditional materials, the recycled carbon fiber enhances rigidity while providing an elastic, comfortable wearing experience.

We have been engaged in environmental conservation activities for over 30 years and are aiming to achieve carbon neutrality in 2050 through our business activities.
In addition to existing efforts with wood and leather, we are now expanding into carbon fiber recycling, further strengthening our commitment to environmental conservation.
